Via the BBC: Raul Castro named Cuban president

Raul Castro has been unanimously selected to succeed his brother Fidel as leader by Cuba’s National Assembly.

No surprise there.

      You need to know that SOMEONE appreciates the wit of your headline. That someone is me. I saw the original JFK video clip a long time ago, but I did see it.

      I wish that I could admit to writing an obscure, yet witty headline. Alas, I cannot.

      Still, being inadvertently witty beats not having been witty at all!

      There’s a fairly famous anecdote about JFK naming his brother to the Attorney General position. The President explained how his advisors told him that if he really wanted to do this, he’d have to think about how to manage the announcement. As JFK tells it, his solution was, in the middle of the night, to stick his head out the door of the Georgetown (I think) house he was using for the transition and say, softly, “It’s Bobby.” Since you’re Mister Politics, I figured that was what you were alluding to.
