Via the BBC: Mugabe rival quits election race

Mr Tsvangirai said there was no point running when elections would not be free and fair and “the outcome is determined by… Mugabe himself”.

He called on the global community to step in to prevent “genocide”.

But the ruling Zanu-PF said Mr Tsvangirai had taken the decision to avoid “humiliation” in the poll.

[...]

At a press conference in Harare on Sunday, Mr Tsvangirai said: “We in the MDC have resolved that we will no longer participate in this violent, illegitimate sham of an election process.”

“We will not play the game of Mugabe,” he added.

Sadly, it would seem that Mugabe’s game is the one being played, and he won. Clearly, the people of Zimbabwe are the losers and have been for some time.

    1. Well…how about that? It looks like the only way Zimbabwe gets any justice…any justice at all would be if the United States steps in and takes care of business.

BUT…since the rest of the world seems to have a problem with the US “overstepping our super power bounds”…the Zimbabwe people can continue on with their murder, mayhem, chaos, racism towards white farmers and business owners, tyranny, starvation, inflation, and death.

Sorry, the US is closed for outsourced justice these days due to envy across the world.

      Cheers

    2. @JR - I am unsure why you think that a US military intervention in Zimbabwe would fix much of anything.

Beyond that, it would appear that you have drawn some rather odd lessons from Iraq. Where is the evidence that US intervention leads automatically to justice and happiness?

    3. The U.S. is not respected anywhere and because it isn’t, we cannot help to monitor anything. Look at our election, we cannot monitor that!!!! Florida and Ohio…George Bush-Gore and George Bush-Kerry……

We are no longer the leader of the world because of the invasion of Iraq and the way we handle things inclusive of the economy………

No wonder Mugabe is strutting his stuff, because nothing is going to happen to him and democracy has now gone down the tubes in Z-Land…….
