While I give an enthusiastic thumbs up to Everybody Hates Chris, I have to say that my wife and I thought that How I Met Your Mother and Out of Practice both, well, sucked. I think we got through about 11 minutes of the former and maybe 6ish of the latter.
Both were trite, poorly acted, not funny, and stocked with cliched sitcom characters, situations and dialog. For those who want evidence that the sitcoms is dying, I present you with Exhibits A & B.
Funny,
I thought How I met your mother was great!

You and your wife must get three or four hours of sleep a night — a full teaching load, a household, three kids, BSG priorities, and then time to check out the new stuff. I only have a full load and a dog, but no time to keep up with the newest in new shows.

TiVo my friend, TiVo. It’s like a magic box.
We dispensed with those two new sticoms in less than twenty minutes and didn’t watch any commercials in the undertaking. In fact, we hadn’t checked out new shows for years (i.e, once we had kids) until we got TiVo.
Although I will confess to not getting enough sleep most nights.
